A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MAGDALEN’S
HISTORY: Our building was originally constructed in 1920 and despite being nearly destroyed by the devastating F5 tornado of 1924, it still stands proud and grand in the year 2025. Over 105 years of rich history resonate deeply within its walls, and today it serves as the beloved home to our little coffee shop. Everyday we build new memories, filling the space with the warmth of our townspeople, and with great smells and conversation. This cafe was lovingly designed and renovated by Jay through countless long days of labor & love, and continues to evolve with each passing season.
INSPIRATION: Taking over the space of my photography studio, Magdalen’s was a cute dream that was imagined over many intimate conversations, each a love letter that came together to make this space a reality. Jay found inspiration and built Magdalen’s as if it were the cinematic backdrop of a love story, one where every scene is accompanied by premium coffee & desserts. We really hope that this space is the backdrop for your beautiful life moments as well.
THE PERFECT NAME: Our name comes from my beautiful grandmother, Magdalen. Who was a strong, incredibly loving, and caring woman who loved her family & community above all else. She would be so happy to see all of you here, enjoying yourselves, being kind, laughing, reading, and she would have loved to see all of the babies & children that come to visit us.
INGREDIENTS: Beginning with carefully selected premium coffee beans, every batch is skillfully roasted by Michelin Star chef Dante Boccuzzi in Tremont, Ohio. Jay and Chef Dante collaborated closely to craft the ideal balance of flavors, specifically tailored for the menu at Magdalen’s. We also proudly source our rich, creamy A2A2 milk from the trusted Country Creamery in Wooster. All of our bakery items are freshly made in-house using our own unique recipes, incorporating only high-quality ingredients like King Arthur flour and our house-made vanilla extracts.
